We are still accepting registrations for the food preservation workshops series:
- Pickling (August 22)
- Canning fruits (August 29)
- Canning sauces (September 12)
We will be playing with different flavours, from pickled sweet zucchinis (delicious in hamburger, hot dogs and salads!) to pickled onions, mushrooms and probably fruits (I’m still trying to figure out either blueberries, apricots of apples)
For canning, you’ll be learning all the safety tips and the processes to can all types of fruits both with and without sugar, raw or as jams, relishes or marmalades…lastly, we will be learning even more canning, this time sauces (both sweet and salty)
All workshops run at the Sources/South Surrey Food Bank from 10 am to 1 pm, you’ll get two jars of delicious food of your own creation, recipes, tips and new friends to connect for more food preserving experimentation!
Thos interested in Fermentation: we will be talking about it at all the workshops and if you missed the one on July, just contact me because if we have enough people we may run it again…it is a lot of fun!
You can register through Sources Women’s Centre located at 15318 20 Ave, Surrey, BC V4A 2A3. They are open M-F 9 am to 2:30 pm and you need to contact Lynn Sanderson or Wendy (Wendy’s direct number is: 604-541-4822, Sources general number is: 604) 536-9611 (PHONING IS BETTER!).
The cost for each workshop is $20 person, minors accompanied by their parents are free and if you are a couple and want to share but learn together, you only pay $30 (per couple). Please let me know when you have registered and paid as I am the one buying the supplies and making sure the equipment is in place.
